An egg does not need a chicken to hatch it, etc. It needs a mother.

At some point during the process of evolution, a bird that was like a chicken laid a mutated egg that was a chicken. Where do you draw the line? I don't know. Maybe it was because the egg produced an animal with more feathers, or could fly, or could cluck. Somewhere in that long process of evolving from a lizard to a Rhode Island Red, it happened.

Indeed.

The egg is a copy of the chicken. The chicken is not a copy of an egg.

Reproduction is just that: reproduction. If you reproduce, you are making copies of yourself. Look in the mirror. Look at your parents or your children.
Which comes first? The Mona Lisa. Or the Kodak camera that makes more "Mona Lisas"? An egg is the film that comes out and hasn't revealed the image yet.

The chicken evolved from protochickens, and the first chicken egg contained the final mutation required to go from 99.9% chicken parents to a 100% chicken offspring.

The egg didn't come fist..

The chicken came first.

God created the chicken, the rest is history.

There is a philosophy section, by the way.

And alligator and turtle eggs don't need a chicken to hatch them.
