is there special order patterns that i can order that lowe's or home depot don't have displayed. Asked the salesmen at each and got a quick answer of only what's displayed and there's no catalog...yet the sign says all formica products can be ordered. FYI they both displayed diff formica products.

Lowes and Home Depot have a wall chart of the countertops that can be ordered...they may not be all laminate, but they do have that... Most laminates in those places are basic. If you want more of a selection, I suggest that you go to a counter shop that can specialize in your needs.

Just go to Formica online. Then you can see all the latest patterns. Laminate does not wear off like another person just said. I had mine for 15 years and still looked great.

You might do better at a smaller company that specializes in kitchen and cabinet work. Local building supply company (UBC is one in our area) or Kitchen Solvers and Kitchen Savers. They have lots of options and likely the actual countertops are made by the same people that do Lowes and Home Depot. You can also look in the Yellow pages under countertop providers. There is someone in your area who is doing the manufacturing.

Check out the website of the manufacturer. (Just Google the name of the manufacturer to find the website.) You may be able to order directly, and if not, at least you'll have ideas about what's available.

I don't think those salesmen were doing a very good job.

Laminate blows. Go with Ceramic or Granite. The Laminate wears off after a year or two and it stains like crazy (and won't come out).

Goto a local cabinet maker. They have everything. See actual sample you can take home.

Nevarmar and Wilsonite are some other companies you may be able to use.
