You can't address the occult in this way. It would be like asking someone to explain spanish in french. Science & religion are incompatible. One cannot be used conclusively to corroborate or debunk the other.

You could approach occultism in a pseudo-scientific way, but it's not a true science, so I don't see how there would be good books on it that were factual and valid.

'the tao of physics' is an interesting book, might not be exacltly what you are looking for, but it deals with the cross over between modern day theoretical physics and eastern philosophy/mysticism
