20s

Advantage - biologically it's the healthiest time to have a baby, and you'll have more energy, may be able to relate to your child better

Disadvantage - less likely to have the financial means to support a family, especially in your early twenties, and you lack the life experience of older parents. May feel like you missed out on things, since once you have a baby, you can't really travel, go to parties, socialize, and just do whatever you want on your own schedule

30s

Advantage - you've had more time to finish school and build a career, so you will probably have a better job and have a much easier time supporting the kid. You also have more wisdom and life experience and will perhaps have more patience when dealing with children

Disadvantage - you might have less energy, or you and youre kids might have more of a generational gap. Fertility usually declines in the 30s, although it doesn't usually go down significantly until about 35. You are also at a higher risk of complications or havnig a child born with a disability when you're 35+

Personally, I think the only advantages and disadvantages to when you get pregnant are up to the people who are having the baby. I don't think there are any advantages or disadvantages to having children at any age other then medical. The medical disadvantages to having a child past thirty-five which is because you are at a higher risk during your pregnancy. That's the only disadvantage I can think of to getting pregnant at all. In your twenties you can have a career and money as well as in your thirties. In your thirties you can be just as immature as you were in your twenties. It depends on the person and what they make of their pregnancy.

I think the greatest advantage of having your children in your 20's is that you are youthful and healthy enough to deal with them! Not to mention that studies have found that most people who live to be over 100 were born to mom's in their mid-twenties! They attribute this to healthier eggs from younger moms.

Some disadvantages to having kids in your 20's is that many people in their 20's not only are still a bit immature, they also very seldom are financially secure enough to provide the kind of life they wish they could for their children.

Waiting until your 30's usually means more financial freedom and maturity. The drawbacks would definately be health reasons (like higher rates of autism in babies born to older parents) and not wanting to be in your 50's and beyond when they graduate high school, and retired trying to pay for college!

I think having your kids when you are in your 20's has a lot of advantages they grow up with you and you have more energy to play with them and keep up with them. But then again at that age in your life you still want to have fun and go out with your friends so it works both ways. As for when you are in your 30's I think are more settled financially and in every other way but you have less energy to be running after them and staying up all night. Plus when you have them in your thirties by the time they start high school and all that other stuff you'll be 40 something or maybe even 50 something.

I think its wonderful being a parent young 20s because ya still young enough to chase them around and still will be young enough to have fun when they are older. In ya 30s ya getting older with the day and ya body isn't as active and all as it use to be. HOWEVER, overall I think the disadvantages and advantages are determined by the 2 people havin the kids

When you have kids in your 20's you have alot of energy to dedicate to them especially in playing time but this can be a disadvantage if you're a single parent and have to do everything for yourself and child or children.
If you're going to have kids in your 30's it needs to be in the earlies so that you would still be young enough to attend their wedding or university graduation. An advantage to this is that you would have already secured yourself financially to deal with the addition of a new member or members of the family efficiently and probably already have a partner for life to help you with the new additions.

It depends where you are in your 20's. 21 can be quite different then 27 or 28. A 21 year old most likely is not yet established with a career or a home.

The energy thing is a lot of bull. A healthy, active 30-something year old can have just as much energy as a 20-something year old.
