I'm flying to Ca from La and I'd like to bring my pocket knife and my hair conditioner. I know I can't carry on the knife but can I check it? Do I need to declare it or what? And what's the deal with the liquids?

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#content The TSA website tells you everything you need to know about what you can and cannot take on a plane (checked in baggage or carry on). I highly recommend reading that!

You can take your pocket knife and your conditioner as long as you put them in your check bag. And no, you do not have to declare it. DO NOT try to take them on the plane. When you get to Ca your luggage will probably have a letter in it stating that it was searched but that is very common and doesnt mean you did anything wrong. I have had to fly home with a knife in my bag that was a decorative present for someone and I had no problem.

Check your luggage. Bring a book to read. And they're still allowing laptops.

You can put almost anything reasonable in your luggage. Nothing dangerous, of course. Nothing flamable. But your pocket knife and toiletries can be in luggage.

you can bring a knife in your check in.

as a matter of fact you can even bring firearms. You just need to declare it at the TSA baggage check in.

Actually most of what people have responded with is UNTRUE.
If your conditioner is in a 3 oz. or smaller container and is placed in a zipped see through plastic bag, you CAN carry it on.
