And why do we experience life as finite?

Our brains are limited, so "inifinity" is about as close as we can get to the right track for the timeless essence which is God.

You don't have to experience life as finite. Identify with your observing presence instead of that which it observes.

This is actually a really good question. I never thought about the "purpose" of infinity for a god. My guess is that if a god weren't infinite, then he/she/it wouldn't meet our definition of a god, but would be a mortal like us instead. I would have to study mythology a bit for some history on god-qualifications. I'm not sure, but I think Zeus, for example, was supposed to be infinite. What happened to him?

It's like saying water is wet. God is infinite. He created us humans so we have a beginning, therefore we are finite, bound by a beginning. Even though we are bound organically to an end also, our spirit returns to God at that point.

For a god, infinity is a concept used to confuse us and life is finite so we we have a sense of urgency as we make our way through life.

Einstein had a great quote about infinity whose truth is proved daily on YA:
"There are only two things that are infinite, the Universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former."

To man all things are on a time.
To God, time does not exist.

He sees all, he is the same yesterday, today and forever.
He is Eternal. We are not.
He is all knowing, all powerful, omnipotent, perfect, all seeing.

This time on earth is only a short time in the eternal scheme of things. To god this is merely a blink of his eye.
To us it's a lifetime.

Infinity is what makes God, well a god. I think you will need to wait to ask him yourself as far as purpose is concerned.

he is the creator.. we r only God creation..
he make the rules...

A God should not have limit... thus he is infinite.
If a God have limit, he is no different from us...he cant be call as God if he is just like us.

God mus be above us in everything.

I cannot say what purpose God had. In my opinion, our souls live multiple lives.
