“Creating without claiming, Doing without taking credit, Guiding without interfering, This is prime Virtue”
- Lao Tzu -

Do you agree? If not, state your reasons and back them up with logic.

SeeTheLight: A question does not need to be backed with logic, it seeks opinions. However, answers must be backed with logic in order to prove them to be true, because they are opinions. The quote is the subject and your answer is the thesis. Only the latter needs to be proved.

Blackacre: You must read the rest of Lao Tzu's teachings, they specify moral codes, and apply those codes to this quote.

I surely agree. I like this too:

"To regard the fundamental as the essence, to regard things as coarse, to regard accumulation as deficiency, and to dwell quietly alone with the spiritual and the intelligent -- herein lie the techniques of Tao of the ancients."

I would only agree were Lao Tzu to provide parameters within which to determine the beneficial or other nature of the action taken. He is attempting to provide evidences of inherent virtue without analyzing whether virtue is good or bad.

For example: literally speaking, many Nazis attempted to avoid "credit" for their actions, Many scientists helped create the "bomb", and one can "guide" to an inferno. This quote entirely leaves out the motives behind the actions.

I agree & love the quote but...I'm having some difficulty with "Guiding without interfering."
Wouldn't all guidance be a form of interference, if we were guiding people towards something without them fully understanding it or telling them to ensure they understand? I think my brain hurts today or I'm reading more into this than I should be. :)
