Atheism is such a broad term. What exactly do you believe and what don't you believe? I don't believe in many elements of Christianity (or any other organized religion for that matter) but I do believe in God-as in a "Higher Power" (for lack of a better word). So, to answer you question, one would need to know what kind of atheist you are.

Sure, but I'm afraid of that practice. They say if you leave your body, and it moves, even slighty, you might not be able to come back, and be comatose for the rest of your life.

Depends on your concentration and meditation skills. You don't have to hold a belief of higher powers than your own.
