Or when do you think it will happen?

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD;

"And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it." Amos 8:11, 12.

I believe it has happened periodically throughout history. When the Roman church made it illegal for private ownership of the Bible, and then available only in Latin, that prophecy was fulfilled, and the Dark Ages ruled.

I believe it has happened in various oppressive regimes, such as the Communist nations, where it is still illegal to own one, and Muslim countries that ban it, such as Saudi Arabia.

I believe that it will continue to happen in the future as well. Even now, there is a movement by unbelieving scholars to get the Bible back into the hands of high school students, because they do not understand parts of western civilization without it. You would be surprised at the ignorance people have where some common maxims come from.

And it is because of a dearth of God's Word.

Some believe this occured during the Intertestamental period between Malachi and Matthew. Scripture shows there was no prophetic vision or voice until Joihn the Baptist. Some refer to these "400 years of silence" as a fulfillment of Amos 8:11-12. God Bless You.

You must remember that the Hebrew word for "land" can also be translated earth. If they're wandering from sea to sea & from north to the west, running to and fro, they're probably not in the land of Israel, but scattered all over the earth.

I take this as referring to the diaspora since the destruction of the Temple in 70 ad.

They sought the word of the LORD, but didn't find it because their apriori was that Jesus is not their prophecied messiah.

Anyone who refuses to accept the truth, is not going to find the word of the LORD.
