Just curious. I don't even know if there are Dogwood trees in China.

No, the dogwood is not indigenous to China, therefore there is no direct word for it. However, if you wanted to explain what a dogwood tree was to a Chinese person, you would say "山茱萸科点木属植物的木树”, or "Shan1 zhu2 yu3 ke4 dian3 mu4 shu3 zhi2 wu3 de mu4 shu4". Hopefully you weren't looking to tattoo the Chinese word for "dogwood" on yourself, because that would be like seeing a Chinese person with "A tuber indigenous to Heilongjiang province known for its medicinal properties" tattooed on themselves in English.
