Yes, it's generally better to bring an umbrella. Then again, it's also nice to have a weather man who can tell us when it's going to rain and eyes with which to spot storm clouds. And then again AGAIN, some people like the rain. I'm one of those people. I go out in the rain when it rains. No umbrella. What a rebel!

Yes, looking both ways is common sense. It's something we have to teach small children so that they can self-preserve. Of course if you're hit while you're in a crosswalk, you could probably sue the pants off of whoever it is that hit you... that could be profitable.

Yes, loving a child is preferable to not.

Being nice off the bat is suggested, it's true. Being a jerk tends to scare people away. Then again there are those who LIKE jerks... ah well.

No, not if the concept of God is ilogical and impossible. And if "believing just in case" is a good plan, you better get to work finding out all the other deities you should believe in "just in case".

Some of us don't mind a little rain.

Sidewalks are clearly marked, and the traffic lights are prominently displayed.

I already love my child, because the feeling comes naturally from within.

I'm generally a nice person because it makes getting along with other people much easier -- not because someone else told me to, or because I expect something in return for it.

How much time would we waste if we devoted equal resources and attention to EVERY wild-eyed, unsubstantiated claim that every person we ever came across made?

Your question assumes that it is better to follow the tenants of every single world religion and cult simultaneously.

Here's a question I like - I'm a Christian. If I'm wrong, I go to the grave - the end. If you are wrong, you have a second death coming and Hell. I choose the first - I choose to believe.

Assume no one likes you and be nice anyway-it works wonders for your karmic balance sheet.

By your logic, wouldn't it be safer to regularly sacrifice and pray to every god and goddess ever conceived by man--just in case?

Rain exists
Cars exist
Children exist
People exist
Oh, you lost me there.

The word is "than"
