You can use some anaesthetic to numb your tongue.
If you prefer not to have a numb tongue you could try using paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen to try and settle the pain down.
Other than that, use the usual supportive treatment. Have fluids, rest up.

Rinse with peroxide. Also the minute you feel a sore throat coming on, gargle with peroxide. IT WORKS!

i get those all the time, and i just bite them off. they heal quicker for me that way. i hate having to eat around them. ugh.
