Lucid Dreaming is relatively easy for me, when I lay my head on my pillow , laying flat on my back, I have a meditation that begins above the top of my head and eventually works it way down to below or above my feet, as I work through my meditation, taking deep cleansing breaths, and realising every point and its meaning, possibly pausing for prayer, different points on my body representing different concepts---if I am not in a hurry I may linger here or there and allow the images to come forth---choosing what I wish to see and then moving on towards and above my feet.
When I lay my head on my pillow with the intention of going to sleep---I pray and I have aset pattern for my prayer, beginning with an invocation to the Creator and as I pray in an undertone, taking deep cleansing breaths, oftentimes I find it difficult to finish my prayer as the dreaming begins---becoming half awake and remembering where I left off in my prayer---I return there and continue and again there is most times a dream sequence which is easy to choose---usually there are images passing before my eyes and it is up to me whether to choose and focus on one of these images or to allow a free flow and cruise on into a blessed rest---all the time praying---all the time giving thanks
lucid dreaming is not a matter of concentrating for me---if I try and concentrate the image goes away---it is a matter of acceptance, and in accepting I am in control---so it seems
so it seems even in lucid dreams
so it seems

There is and Elliot is pointing you in the right direction.
If you're serious about becoming lucid on demand, look into the W.I.L.D method (there are several websites that explain how to do it). I can't speak for all, but this has worked for me and is the most memorable. Basically, you keep your mind occupied to trick your brain into thinking that you are asleep (it's amazing what you can do). You go through the sleep paralysis and the hypnagogic sounds and/or images, and you can actually watch your dream form while staying aware that it is a dream. I finally remembered to fly when I first used this method after a few lucid dreams where I did pretty stupid things instead.
What I've learned from experience and read is that it's easiest to achieve lucidity after you've slept for several hours then gone back to sleep after being up for a short amount of time (15-30 min).
Just a heads up, most people that haven't controlled their dream (I assume that's why you want to LD) don't seem to share in the excitement. Why is beyond me. It's hard for something to screw up my day when I lucid dream- in real life or dreaming.

A couple of things will help:
First becoming highly aware of your dream states. The easiest way to do this is to journal your dreams. Keep a notebook beside your bed and as soon as you wake up write down everything you can remember about your dreams.
Second start doing relaxations exercises and guided meditations before going to sleep.
Above all it takes practice.

My understanding is that the easiest way to achieve lucid dreaming is to keep your mind occupied while you fall asleep, such as by imagining you're climbing some stairs. It also helps if you haven't been awake for very long, so try waking up during the night then trying.

State what you want to dream about, or have an answer to, or figure out, before you go to bed. Write it down if you have to. Be prepared to wake up and write what you get.
This may also help:

that stupid trick of hyperventilating and then standing up against a wall while someone pushes against you
you pass out, have wild dreams, flop like a fish, get hurt and lose brain cells and sometimes die
sure fire
another is stay in a sauna until you pass out and when the air is too hot to breathe you wake up and have about 5 seconds to hit the door
in the meantime, especially if you spiked the rocks, you will get your "spiritual journey" and hopefully not die while all the poisons of the body are sweated out and hit liver/brain in the process aiding in your delusions and struggle to stay alive
that gap between concious and unconscious is a fine line
"flat liners"
