I think that a blender is just as good as a smoothy maker, the only difference is that the smoothy maker has a stirring stick and a pouring nozzle. Sorry but I don't have any recipes, I guess these come with the smoothy makers!

No, I use a general purpose liquidiser/blender. I cut the fruit into small bits before blending.

My Recipe:

200ml fresh OJ
4 large spoons of natural yogurt
2 apples
1 pear
Handful of grapes
Melon
2 bananas
Handful of strawberries

Cut the fruit up into small pieces before putting into the blender.
Also, if the smoothie is too sour then add some water (or vanilla ice cream)

As a side note, did you know that smoothies are very bad for your teeth? Sugar from the fruit is released all in one go and more of your teeth (surface) gets covered in the sugar, as opposed to eating the fruit in bits.

I usually just use my own blender. I put in my preference of milk or juice, add my fruit and a few cubes of ice and blend. I think the only think smoothie mixers are good for is that they can break up the ice a little better. But other than that, if you don't mind bits of ice in your smoothie than your good with your blender. I like banana smoothies because I love bananas! Add a few ice cubes, milk, one banana (or half if you don't want the whole banana) and blend. It's yummy!!! Good Luck! Sara.

I'm sure you can use a blender - or even food processor. I have never made a smoothie before or any recipes - sorry!
