According to Judeo-Christianity, angels are a separate species. There is no biblical support for popular idea that human souls become winged angels and watch over the living.

Angels are totally diferent beings than humans. Angels were created long before humans. They (with the exception of the ressurected ones)will never know what it is like to be human, for they were created spirit, not flesh. They will never endure the things we endure, because they are perfect.

Angels are pure spirit. Theologians say they were created before humans and in the hierarchy are actually subservient to humans because they did not have to suffer and work out their salvation. It is also thought that the fallen angels most grievous fault was that they did not want to accept Jesus as being above them, and refused to worship mere flesh.

Different
Scriptures speak of a few different kinds. Cherub and seraph for example. (-im is the plural ending in Hebrew, you'll see both forms)
You are starting to attract bits of non-Bible based ideas about them. The word "angel" is derived from the Greek "angelos." This word simply means messenger. Read the narratives of John the baptist's and Jesus' birth at the beginning of Matthew and Luke. Angels are saying repeatedly, "Do not be afraid." Something in their appearance must lead people to fear them.

According to Sylvia Browne (world renowned psychic) angels have never been bogged down with a human body. They are lighter in molecular structure..more fluid than transcended spirits traveling between their dimension and ours. Read it in her book... The Other Side.

No. Jesus said we will have charge over the angels and that we are set above the angels. That would mean that we cannot be angels, I think.

They are separate beings.
We are not angelic beings; we are human beings.
When we die, our spirit will be a step above angelic beings.
God / Jesus ROCKS!

They are separate creatures, God created them with Light, while the Devils were created with Fire, and Human beings were created with Clay (Sand).
