I think it's adorable. Give him/her a real sense of how bad they really are.

It is never right to lie to a child unless it's to make the child happy: as in party plans or Santa stories. Why do you want to stress your child out and let him think he did something wrong and that's why it's raining? It's raining because there's water in the clouds and it has to come down! Children should be told the truth in small spurts. If a child of 4 asks "where did I come from?" you don't tell him the whole story of conception. You tell him he came from your body. You keep it simple. You don't elaborate until the child is older. A simple question, receives a simple answer. As the child gets older and asks more mature and complex questions, then you give more detailed answers.

Why fill a kid's head with stories when the truth will work just as well? And no guilt trips!!! Just say that rain is water that falls from the sky when the clouds gett too full. If the question comes up of how the water got there, then say that the water gets warm on the ground and turns into air, and then floats up and makes clouds. You'd be surprised how intelligent a kid really is...
"God is crying." Sheesh...

When my kids were little and were scared of thunderstorms, I used to tell them that the clouds are just farting.
They thought this was such a crack up.
Ever since then they loved thunderstorms.
The story that God is crying, I don't know. What if it rains for days when the kids has been good?
Or what if the kids has done something really really bad and no rain in sight?

First, I'd tell them God made the rain so that things can grow and we have water to drink. If you insist on "God is crying", then whatever you do, don't tell them it's because they did something wrong. Just tell them he is sad or something. That's a good way to make your kids hate God or think that he always thinks they're bad or something.

No, not a good idea. You and the child can make up your own myth...the Cloud People looked down on Earth and saw that it needed rain the nourish the plants and trees. When you see the thunderheads (rain clouds) rising up you can direct the child to look and see the Cloud People getting together for rain making. Never a good idea to relate natural occurrence to god.

That may be cute but you should let the child know exactly where rain comes from so that when he/she goes to school and the teacher or friends bring up the topic they wouldn't be laughed at.The worst thing is to tell a child something and then they go elsewhere and be embarrassed!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a dumb question. Why lie to your child that it's raining because God's crying? Go to school and find out why it rains and then tell him/she that. If you don't know, just admit it.

Why in Gods name would you lie like this to your child about such a stupid simple thing? NO it's not 'cute'.
Rain is a necessity of this life. No one should be made to feel it's raining because of something they did.

How previous are you? might you like to be counseled God is crying for something you probably did. I doubt it. How approximately asking the question good back at him/her and notice the place he thinks rain comes from. i'm going to guess you his answer would be a very good deal cuter.
