Orthodox wins outright purely because most fighters are orthodox boxers...however throughout the history of our great sport it has been proven that south paws do have the advantage to a certain extent- namely because an orthodox fighter would have to reverse their fighting style in order to accomodate the fact that a south paw would be fighting them, in essence, from a different side to that which they are used, putting them at a distinct disadvantage.
Hope this helps!

There are only few Southpaws in the sports of boxing namely,
Chris Byrd HW Cahmpion
Michael Moorer LHT and HW champion
Marvin Hagler MW Champion
Flash Elorde SFW Champion
Manny Pacquiao FLW, SBW, and FW Champion
These are the only most succesful Southpaws in the history of boxing. That being only Pacquiao is a known SOuthpaw Puncher.
Southpaws are being outnumbered by right handers.
But Southpaws does have a distinct advantage over the orthodox Stance.

Bradd ~
In my opinion it's obvious that the orthodox fighters have been more successful in boxing Bradd, part of it is due to the fact that right handed fighters outnumber left handed fighter 8 to 1.
Southpaws are difficult to fight without knowing that your opponent is a southpaw but given proper notice they are easy to train for, circle to your left away from your opponents left hand pretty much forget your jab, straight right left hook usually works wonders with southpaws.
If you just look at the number of right handed fighters to those who happen to be southpaws that have been World Champions the number will definitely favor the right handed fighters.
Thanks for the great question Bradd..........There are no easy fights. Fighting a southpaw is strange because they do everything backwards. I fought them, I beat them and I trained them.

It's an unusual question. I'd say the numbers are probably evenly split. Maybe slightly in favor of the lefties.
Other guys have told you how to box against lefties. As one who has taught boxing for a living, trust me, it's easier said than done.
Settle it like this: When Angelo Dundee was asked his opinion of southpaws, his reply was ,"They should all be killed at birth."
'nuff said.

HI BRAD, I WOULD SAY IT'S NOT THE SOUTH PAW OR THE
ORTHODOX THAT MATTERS, IT'S THE MIND, WIT, AND THE
SKILL OF ANY BOXER THAT COUNTS!! BOTH HAVE BEEN
GREAT THROUGHOUT TIME..........
