Cost: anywhere from $800-1500 (from my experience)
Go on Petfinder.com to search for small-breed dogs that really need homes first. Visit your local shelters and breed rescues. There are many young dogs that desparately need homes.
If you are dead-set on getting a teacup yorkie, do a web search for a breeder in your area. Steer clear of breeders that advertise multiple breeds, this could be signs of a puppy mill. Puppy mills breed for money, not for love, and many animals are diseased and inbred just to make a buck. Visit the breeder on her own property where the dogs are kept, bred, and whelped. Take a look at the whelping box, or where the dog will have the puppies. If it doesn't look like somewhere you would want to have a baby, move on to another breeder. Visit with the mother (dam) and father (sire) of a litter you are looking to purchase from. You may also want to visit a fully-grown puppy from the same breeding. Make sure the dam and the sire have a good temperament, and if you can locate a sibling make sure he/she has a good temperament too.
Hopefully, you will find a perfect companion! Good Luck!

Everyone is correct on this. In Texas they run about $800-1500. But, you should know before you buy a small dog like a yorkie that they are high maintenance dogs. High vet bills at times. Make sure the breeder is reputable so you don't get one that has any inherited problems from the get go. I know about them because I just had to put my 12 year old yorkie to sleep. They are very loving dogs and mine gave me 12 great years of memories and pleasure. Just make sure you can afford it.

Tea Cup Yorkies are not AKC registered and there is a reason for this--to get them to consistantly be so small, they have been inbred and have a number of other genetic problems as a result. PLEASE adopt a puppy from a shelter--you can even adopt a full grown one so you know it's full size. DO NOT support people who breed these dogs that are not actual breeds.

There is no such thing as a "tea cup" anything. Some TOY breeds are smaller than others. Look up AKC for a reputable breeder.

There is no such breed as a teacup yorkie. There is a yorkshire terrier and they range in size up to 5lbs in weight. Unscrupulous breeders call them teacup or toy in order to get clueless people to think they are getting something special and pay more money for them.

My best friend bought a regular yorkie for $1,500. I know the teacup ones are more expensive because they stay very small. If you get a good real pure bred one I'm sure it will be over 2 grand.

A friend of mine got one and it has all sorts of health problems. Her vet told her that happens with such tiny dogs. Unless you have the money for continued vet bills I would invest in a different breed.
