Eat less, move more.
Low carb will make you lose the fastest, but in my experience is not good long term. Just eat your basic food groups (with plenty of green leafy veggies) and try to burn more calories than you are consuming. It'll happen.

Unless you make the commitment to changing your lifestyle via eating right and exercising, you will always be fighting a losing battle.
If you workout at least 3x per week by lifting weights to the point that you are fatiguing your muscles, you will notice dramatic changes in your body. If you don't have time to go to a gym or can't afford one, try some videos. www.cathe.com is a web site for Cathe Friedrich strength training and step-aerobic videos and www.collage.com is a huge exercise video website. There, you can find all kinds of strength training, aerobics, yoga, pilates, dance, etc. videos. There's something for everyone, even kids and seniors! With videos, you can workout from home and dumbells are pretty cheap too.
Obsessing about ones weight, for me, is a waste of time better spent doing other fun stuff. I find that I prefer to keep busy by doing things that make me happy like reading, running, playing guitar, etc.
Hell, if I want to eat 10 cookies or a pint of ice cream, I will. But since I exercise regularly, I can afford some dietary indiscretions now and then. If you're doing stuff that's healthful most of the time, it's not a big deal if you slip up occassionally.
I guess my point is that your LIFE and what you DO with it is more important than your jean size or what the number on the scale says. I bet if you throw yourself into activities that you're passionate about, your energies and thoughts will be directed away from food because you'll be too busy doing other things that give you fulfillment. Once you can get past being a certain weight and value yourself for the things you can do and the goals you would like to achieve, your weight probably wont be an issue anymore. Learn how to play a musical instrument! Write poetry! Write a book! Join the Young Republicans! Make a difference!
Food should be enjoyed and it should give you sustenance, but EATING should not be the focal point of your life.
Unfortunately, if you're one of these people who are always dieting or you are an "emotional eater" you can't help but to constantly think about food. Still, it IS within your power to change this mindset once you're ready. Motivation must come from within.
This is probably way more info than you asked for, but it's the perspective of a 43 year-old gal. I'm not trying to sound harsh with my response. I was once overweight so I feel I can speak from experience.
Good luck!

You don't have to work out to lose weight in a healthy manner - however, you will not lose weight, no matter what you do if you lead a sedentary lifestyle and eat a lot. Little things, like parking further from the entrance to the store when you shop can help. Do not create a don't-have-to-get-up-for-any-reason-situation, for yourself, IE: put the TV remote across the room - along with your snack, drink,or cigarettes (if you smoke this will also serve to cut down on that). Purge your body of solid waste by drinking a product like Ensure in place of meals for a day, then eat slowly, sensibly, and chew well - you will find you feel full with less food. (I do that once a week) Try to never eat too late at night, sleeping is not known to burn many calories. Oh, by the way, sugar contains no fat calories. Bread, pasta, and potatoes are you worst culprits, rice is a far better side choice. I am 49 years old, 5'5", weigh around 125 - and yes,I was 160 at one point in my life. It took me a little over a year to lose what I wanted - don't expect miracles.

I am having excellent luck with Medifast so far! It has lowered my blood sugar A LOT and my hands and feet have stopped swelling as well. I can wear my rings again... This works wonders for me because I am unable to exercise much due to ankle problems and major arthritis, and the low calorie, high vitamin thing is great. Also, they've come a long way since back in the day when it was all chalky-tasting shakes! They have soup, chili and bars now too! Good luck!

I've lost 32 pounds in 69 days. The first 10 days I lost 8 pounds by using the Stack Body Tune Up. However, I started walking after the first 10 days.
Some type of exercise or activity will be needed to sustain weight loss.
If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

Losing weight in one week
Losing weight is difficult. But here I am introducing you some tips to lose a small amount of weight in a healthy that that is also within a week.
Steps to losing weight fast
* Get a set of small hand weights, 3, 5 or 8 lbs.
* Do five to ten minutes of weight lifting for a half an hour after each meal. Lie on your back and slowly lift yourself up with weights in each hand. Do this daily for the full seven days.
* Before or after you take a bath or a shower each day, do five minutes of jogging in place, your weights in hand.
* Do not eat greasy foods. Drink only water and fruit juice. Eat a portion of vegetables at every meal.
* In the morning try to eat fruit. Do NOT dump heaps of sugar on your cereal.
* Follow this regimen for seven days and you will see results.
* Take time to cook, Make food look appealing; don't be afraid to try new things. If you're not sure how to prepare or eat things you can go on an online search engine (such as google) and look how recipes and how to eat things.
* It is a shown fact that one of the "weight loss tips" is not true, many of us believe that if we eat late at night the food turns directly into fat. This is only a myth, food is stored all day into fat, it has nothing to do with time. Make sure you eat a lot of protein, this is important because if you don't have enough protein in your diet you will lose muscle and not fat.(Muscle will be burned but not as much). And finally have fun with it! Make up a dance or jump rope to music, getting active doesn’t mean boot camp!
Quick tips
* Eat plenty of vegetables with each meal.
* Drink plenty of water
* Before buying any food, look for carbs, calories and sugar in the ingredients. You'll want to cut down on all three.

Your diet will make you or break you. Most of it is common sense -- avoid fast food, junk food, soft drinks, refined flour/sugar, saturated fat, and trans fat whenever possible. Instead, go for fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats (especially fish and poultry), and lowfat dairy products.
WARNING: Don't believe the "fat makes you fat" brigade. Not all fats are bad for you. Trans fats are the worst, and saturated fat should be kept to a minimum, but mono-and polyunsaturated fats are good for you in many ways. They are necessary for your body to metabolize certain vitamins (like Vitamin E), they lower your "bad" cholesterol while raising your "good" cholesterol, and they can actually help you lose weight.
Here are some food items that are weight-loss friendly: (1) Eggs -- high in protein and monounsaturated fat, contrary to popular opinion they DO NOT raise your cholesterol; they actually lower it. (2) Olive oil -- One of the best things on the planet for you, it's also high in monounsaturated fat (3) Nuts -- have all kinds of vitamins and are high in mono- and polyunsaturated fats, not to mention the fact that they are also a source of protein. (4) High-fiber breads, cereals, and pasta -- Fiber fills you up and helps rid your body of "bad" cholesterol. (5) Green tea and black pekoe tea -- high in antioxidants and other compounds that boost your metabolism. WARNING: Most green tea, like Snapple/Arizona/Lipton is loaded with high-fructose corn syrup, which is the father of all dietary evil -- avoid HFCS like the plague and drink only 100% pure green tea and black pekoe tea.
If you also follow a few common-sense rules about eating, like eating only when you're hungry (your stomach must be grumbling), eating until you're pleasantly satisfied (not stuffed) and not snacking between meals, you'll be surprised at how quickly the pounds come off.

Don't eat junk foods, eat less at meals, but eat more often. Cut down on fat and carbs. Don't quit them altogether. You still need them. Drink water, 8 - 10 glasses per day. Don't take laxitives and don't purge. Do it the healthy way, do it right.
