I found this website to properly explain about the UN question. This defends Jehovah's Witnesses.

My question is why do others try to make a big deal about a library card?
People tried to make a big deal about Jesus who eat every day food and drank wine, People in his day said he was a drunkard and a glutton.
John the Baptist, ate locust and honey, drank no wine was said to have a demon.
Since the people in Jesus' and John's day couldn't disprove the message they were declaring, they attached the people.
Same is true today. People can't disprove the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, so they attack those who are Witnesses.
Since Jehovah's people are imperfect, we will make mistakes, we will act in unchristian ways,
But since when is man being perfect a requirement for worshiping God acceptably?

NGO = non-governmental organization
DPI = department of public information
So, the Watchtower is informing the UN.
Interesting alliance.
Seems they've chosen Ceaser over Christ.
Nothing new, though. Most "christian" churches have chosen Caesar over Christ (all that are bound and gagged by their 501(c)(3) corporate filings).
Read Rev 3:14-22 and tell me you're not reading about these "State churches" in America today:
"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." KJV

Two words: HYPOCRISY and DECEIT.
There is only one reason the UN approves a non-governmental organization to become an approved associate with the DPI. It is because the organization in question has the means to reach a large number of people and inform them about United Nations programmes, thus building up support for the UN obejctives.
Anyone who is familiar with the WT view of the United Nations knows how hypocritical it was of the Watchtower to present themselves to the UN as a supporter, when in fact it is their fervent desire to see the UN wiped from the face of the earth.
Through the Awake journal, the Watchtower Society has within its power the ability to reach millions of people, so by applying for association with the DPI, they agreed to use their resources (in this case, obviously the Awake! magazine) to publicize UN programs. Articles in Awake! such as pages 3-5 of the July 22, 2001 issue were no doubt submitted to the UN to fulfill their periodic obligation of proving that they were living up to their commitment to promote UN programs.
At the same time, they warn the rank and file members that they should avoid any kind of association with any kind of organization that is unacceptable to God.
Not just hypocrisy, but deceit was also involved in portraying themselves as a friend to the UN, when if fact they have villified the UN from it's very inception. They also deceive their members by pretending they were duped into becoming DPI associates, pretending they didn't know what they were doing, and pretending they only did it to get a library card (what a joke).
A quick trip to the UN website makes plain what association with DPI means. One cannot simply sign up or 'register' and become an associate. And one cannot remain an associate unless they disseminate information about the UN to their readers.
Instead of admitting their mistake, as usual the WT leaders have tried to cover it over. Not only have they refused to publicly acknowledge the incident, they have responded to pointed questions about it with deceitful answers designed to hide the truth.
If in fact the WT agreed to partner with the UN just for the privilege of a 'library card' , it could be compared to Esau who sold his birthright for a bowl of stew.
A much more likely reason is that by becoming an UN associate, it elevated the status of the Witnesses in countries where they were having problems getting government licenses, etc. So they took a lesson from Babylon the Great and did what they had to do in order to further their own objectives.
In 1975, the WT attempted to cover up the fact that Judge Rutherford lived in a house that he deeded to David, Abraham and other Biblical prophets. Supposedly this palatial house was built for the purpose of welcoming back these 'princes' who were absolutely going to be resurrected 'any day now." WT leaders, in the 1975 Yearbook of Jehovah's Witnesses attemped to cover up the history of this house "Beth Sarim" by saying that it was built so that Judge Rutherford could live there in the wintertime and not be subjected to the severe winter weather in New York. Not a mention was made that, at the time, it was supposedly built to house the ancient prophets - that's why it had to be so grand - to be worthy of the 'princes'. Of course, Beth Sarim. just like the UN NGO fiasco, is something the Watchtower leaders would just like everyone to forget about.
As usual, most JW's swallow their excuses - but there are a few that have eyes that aren't entirely pasted shut.
For any JW who wants to investigate the matter for himself, just take a trip to the UN website, NGO section and read the document they have posted there about the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.
