When I was 17 I thought about trying to get emancipated and I basically had the same problem as you. However, what I did instead is I bought a plane ticket for when I was 18 and left 2 days after my birthday and got as far away as I could (michigan to california). What I would suggest is waiting. This is because you will most likely have to go through some kind of court process...especially if your parents are going to fight you. By the time everything is done you will probably already be 18 or really really close.

If you're renting a place, do you really need to be emancipated? However, if you've been renting that place for a while then it might go a lot quicker if you just called cps.

You have to prove that you will be able to support yourself, but you can legally sue your parents for emancipation if they won't voluntarily sign for it, but it'll cost ya. You didn't mention if you had a job already, but $2000 isn't a lot of money, so I hope you have plans beyond simply moving out. Also, at 17, you only have a little while to go before you can legally move out without having to go through the trouble of emancipation -- since this is an issue, I'm assuming your folks are kicking you out of the house early, regardless of what your mother says, and they are legally bound to feed and house you until you're eighteen -- it's the law. Still, if you feel the need to leave home, I'm sure a case could be made.

How much longer till you're 18?

Sorry you're having such a hard time.

How have you been renting a place? You can't sign any kind of lease agreement because you're still a minor.

Emancipation takes time and money...by the time you get it- you might not even need it.

I know you don't want to - but sticking there for a little longer to save more money might be better for you.

Emancipation does no longer mean you're 18. It in basic terms signifies that you're legally on authentic of problems with your own resources and performance particular rights oftentimes afforded to adults. It would not replace your actual age. regulations regarding man or woman supplies are depending upon your actual age, no longer your criminal status. Any producer who hires you for an man or woman movie will locate himself charged with generating baby pornography. by the way, you could not legally smoke both.

Go to Juvenile Court, and see if you can pull it. The letters of reference aren't worth much. Your financial situation and work history is.
