You can have what is called "Clear Lens Extraction", which is cataract surgery without the cataract. The surgeon removes the Crystalline Lens of the eye and replaces it with an implant. You may lose your reading vision afterwords because an implant can only be set up for distance or near vision and usually not both. There are some implants that can have the 2 ranges of focus but they are still new and are usually not very successful.
Another surgery is called a Phakic IOL. This is an implant that is placed in the eye without removing the lens of the eye. The technology is still new so I would recommend the Clear Lens Extraction.

You can improve your eyesight by simply learning, naturally and practicing the correct way to see for a few small minutes a day.
You can check this method based on a scientific researches :

if glasses are worn continuously over time the poor vision will generally become worse. Essentially what glasses do is lock the eyes into their refractive state and in order to see through your lenses you have to maintain the poor vision that the lenses are designed to correct.
"Restore my vision” program you'll be taken by the hand, it shows you how to improve your vision naturally, permanent and complete solution.
Even the American Optometric Association has been forced to admit these things!
I'm sure that you will not regret your decision

My eyesight is 20/400 which is really bad. At one time I wanted to do Lasik surgery, but I was too afraid of the risk. I recently started doing eye exercises to try to improve my vision. I created a blog where I record my progress with the exercises.
I haven't seen any improvement as yet, but other people (who have experienced improvements) also post comments about their experiences as well. You can check it out at: http://improvingmyeyesight.com/blog
Good luck

I've heard of this other procedure where they insert a ring into your eye which helps reshape the eyball. Visual acuity is not as sharp as lasik.
There is also a technique where they put rigid contact lenses over your eyes to reshape them. Supposed to be pretty painful though.
