what is to blame for the deaths of humans? is it the doctrine or 'devil' that makes us do things in the name of a god or faith, or is it the person who chooses to act, or a group that chooses to lead a nation into war against other cultures and faiths, humanity?

Wars are usually caused by one group of rich people trying to get richer at the expense of other people. The reasons they state are just to motivate the cannon fodder.

Like you say in your question is the person that who chooses to act. And I say this because a group of people can choose to lead a nation into war, but you (the person) is the one who elected to join that group. Does my answer makes sense to you?

It comes down to the person. They just use god or the devil as an excuse for their actions. It's a delusion.

Religions as such are negative, because in their own essence is the intolerance of believing you are the only one who's right. What people do is the natural consequence of the evil of religion as such. This, however, does not excuse individual people for what they do in the name of religions. They should know better...
