Agree or disagree...it dosen't matter she is going to Afgan or Jail at this point. I am a career soldier, if you tell her you don't want her to go you will turn her off. Tell her you will miss her and support her by writing or sending phone cards. No matter what you think.

You lost her for two years already without the benefit of war. Your friend is a female, which means she's not in a combat arms branch. If he was a Para or a Royal Marine Commando, I'd understand a bit more. It's a she, and likely some admin person or a medic. She's in less danger than you dressed in a certain way in certain parts of London on a Saturday night.
No one was there for the Afghans after the Soviets left and Kabul fell. No one was there for the Afghans after the Mujahideen turned on each other and ripped the countryside apart. That decade-long nightmare of a backwards theocracy mutilating and executing men and women in public arenas and destroying the heritage of half a dozen ethnic groups was all done without the British or anyone else there to stop it. You may not agree with war, but when the alternative is to agree with repression, pacifism is nothing more than turning your back on people who need help.
Your friend made her choice. Let her live her life.

Love the solder hate the war.
I'm in the US naval reserves and I'll be going over to the middle east next year. Any real soldier will tell you killing is the last thing they want. Killing take away a little bit of your soul every time. And being away from home just sucks no matter where you go. So most will do they need to do as a soldier and try to make the best of it as well do there best to keep the peace.
It's up to people in the state to vote what kind of policy the soldier have to follow. And believe me We'll the last one who want war.
Because we (our families) pay the price.

You can object to the war and still support the your troops. It really doesn't matter what I think about the war, I support our troops. They're doing they're jobs, risking life and limb. Their families also making an unimaginable sacrifice. So, support her, not the war. Write, see her when you can. It'll be that much better. And she will have an endless respect for you.

WELL MY FRIEND I GUESS THERE'S NOT MUCH YOU CAN
DO ABOUT. A MILITARY ORDER IS AN ORDER. PEOPLE
WHO TO GO TO THE MILITARY, OR ARE DRAFTED, MUST REALISE THAT THEY ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO DO AS THEY PLEASE. AND ANYONE WHO JOINS THE MILITARY SHOULD TAKE THOSE THINGS INTO CONSIDERATION. I'M
SURE YOUR FRIEND WAS WELL AWARE OF THAT. SO MY
SUGJESTION IS TO KEEP IN CONTINUE CONTACT AND GIVE
EACH OTHER THE BEST SUPPORT AND HOPE FOR THE
BEST AND SAFE RETURN OF YOUR FRIEND. YOURS TRULY
