You gotta ease up on this bashing the concrete-thinking masses. Religion is really the opiate of the masses. It is what keeps them from eating the rich and intelligent.

Seriously, for society to work as currently evolved, it *does* require that large numbers not be asking hard questions, it is necessary that they follow blindly.
