"House GOP leaders on Monday did manage to insert a narrow border security provision into a homeland security spending bill that would make it illegal to dig tunnels under the border."

Last I heard Hastert was trying to get the gang provisions in there too, wonder if that is still on his agenda?

Unfortunately, passing the House is just the start of the battle, particularly where Congress is taking off on Saturday.

This is going to be really telling for Congress, to see whether or not they can put something cohesive on the desk before they skip town. Maybe if they listened to the voters more, and their big-money buddies LESS, some of em wouldn't be scanning the 'help wanted' ads...

As a native Texan- the border is not a national issue.

I am offended by the outsiders and their warped interpretation of the immigrants role in America. We do need some new legal standards to make the financial items better for all of us.

Mexicans are not the terrorist. All the people that attacked our country walked through the front door!

The burden on our government contains more of our "Poor" nation that we hide under our coats. Katrina should have taught our nation. The east coast is still suffering from the floods and the west coast from fires. Who is suffering here?

This is the "switch and bait" by the political forces in control. Look at the borders, don't see us "screwing up the world balance". For the first time in years, I'm afraid to leave the USA, not because of terrorist, because we are hated by others.

Progress by the inch helps. Maybe we can give them a foot every yard if they need it.

Isn't it against the law to enter the US illegally?

JUST ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS!

Illlegals who are in gangs are compound criminals..........

OUR LEGISLATORS NEED TO REPRESENT THE BEST INTEREST OF THE USA........NOT MEXICO.

I think we ought to tear down that stupid statue in the harbor and use it to erect a wall around America.
