I thought the lifestyle changes that I'd made were keeping my fibromyalgia under control but it's getting worse again. Guaifenesin helped, too. Now I'm scrambing to get it back under control, have no idea why it's flared up again, but any help would be appreciated.

Natural progesterone has been shown to help with fibro!

When stretching any distance, nerve cells are sheathed in an off-white insulating covering called myelin which protects the nerves from trauma and chemical erosion as well as preventing short-circuiting of the electric impulses along the way. Along the nerves throughout the body are special cells called Schwann cells, which continually maintain the myelin sheath.

Progesterone is made by the Schwann cells, allowing them to perform their function.

It is no surprise, then, to discover that Fibromyalgia, inflammation of the nerve cells in the muscle accompanied by aches and pains, is the result of progesterone deficiency. The traditional medical approach uses non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-depressants and a variety of stress management techniques without great success. Dr. Lee found that fibromyalgia, which is reaching epidemic proportions in the United States, would disappear within six months to a year upon using progesterone supplements.

YES e-mail me at hanusak@yahoo.com and I will forward the rest of this research. This is DR.Strand's story!
My wife has suffered with fibromyalgia for the past 18 years. During the first 12 years of our marriage she needed to be in bed before 8 P.M. She never had a restful night's sleep and would get up just as tired as when she went to bed. Living with this illness for the past 17 years has totally changed my perception on the seriousness of this disease. Early morning stiffness, mental fog, muscle spasms (my massage technique has certainly improved), fatigue, and pain were daily encounters with which she had to learn to live.

My wife has always joked that she thought marrying a physician would allow her to improve her health. But I’m afraid I was not the answer. The frustration felt by a physician when he or she is unable to do anything for a patient cannot be overstated. And I now realize, first-handedly, the frustration patients with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue have with their doctors.

When my wife was struggling with the most difficult fatigue, she asked if she could try some nutritional supplements given to her by a friend. For 23 years, I would do most anything to get my patients off any kind of supplements. However, my response to her shocked even me. I told her she could certainly try since I had not been able to find anything to help her through traditional medicine.

I too have fibromyalgia and the only thing that keeps it under control for me are failry large doses of Tramadol three times a day and iron for the fatigue and anemia. Several years ago I had a doctor who gave me Tramadol and Ambien for sleep. This was the best combination and I was as functional as I have ever been. It's very hard to find a doctor who will prescribe a sleeping pill like Ambien for regular use on a nightly basis, but good sleep makes all the difference in how you get by during the day and in how your body repairs itself.

My health plan covers massage therapy...the doctor thought it would be a good idea. I haven't been there yet, but from what I hear it does help. Hopefully you're able to financially consider this as an option.

I've found this year to be particularly bad for my symptoms, I think it has to do with all the dampness (we've had a lot of rain).

Good Luck...this illness is truly horrid.
