Thanks to that question for the inspiration.

So if you have one personality that's atheist and one that's a Christian, what happens when the person dies?

FireBall - maybe you should READ something other than the bible to understand the darn question

The question is very thought provoking! I would say since "good is better than evil" maybe the person with MPD would go to heaven but having said that, maybe they would go to hell because evil is stronger and sneakier. Plus then the devil would get two souls for the price of one

nice thread!

let's keep it going

I admit to having different personalities, when angry I snap and become a vicious untamed monster and say mean things

if I die, since I'm athiest primarily I feel that will be the end, and since I was raised evangelical mindless christian (pentecostal) the deeds I did to further thier cause will live on and they will point to my actions as proof of thier faith and my obedience (I put my whole heart into it)

I would hope my life and discoveries of truth keep living and help people for freedom and not become ensnared in the chains of dogma and submission to gurus who claim to know god and speak for you

when some people get super spiritual like a medium, often we say they are filled with 'god' or a holy ghost, but I say that is the "saved person" or other member of MPD coming out that has been conditioned to become what we believe to be true to the point it happens or is birthed in the mind and then dominates for a bit until reality clashes and they have to survive or switch over

It very well may be possible that God permits such disturbing illnesses to exist so that we may raise difficult questions such as this one and seek his will regarding them.

That is, if one asks the question because one is concerned about salvation, and if one goes to God in search of an answer, God will eventually provide clarity to the faithful one regarding the question. This has been my experience, again and again.

What is used by God for God's purposes is oftentimes used by God's enemy...for God's enemy's purposes. So, if one is asking this question in order to try to stick a fork into religious debate, one will most probably not receive clarity about the answer but will instead receive some self-satisfaction for having thought to ask.

If your heart is true, and you seek God, God will guide you and answer what you ask. If your heart is occluded, and you seek congratulations from self or others, you are on your own.

The answer, then, is: If you truly want to know, humbly ask God to reveal the answer to you.

Oh brother! Let's make this question even more interesting, shall we? What about the person who is absolutely incompetent and can't make any decisions for themselves because they are mentally ill. Is that person going to hell? I think that God knows exactly what he is doing and wouldn't curse someone who obviously and genuinely doesn't know any better. BUT, to those of us who DO know better and who do not choose Jesus as their Lord and Savior then it will be a very sad sad day when Jesus comes back to take us to our eternal resting places & you not on the good list, but you on the naughty list.

LOL You and I and most people will cross over after we die. We can then choose to come back. What if you were a Christian in a past life, and you decided to try being a non believer in this one? Your soul would have learned a lot, don't you think?

If MPD is an "illness" then the TRUE person would be the one considered; the others are just manifestations or personalities caused by the illness.

There is no such thing as a person like that. You are either with God 100% or remain the property and child of the devil who is your father.

John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

There is no sitting on the paverbial fence.

Obviously, if there WAS life after death, the Atheist personality would say to the christian personality; "See, I told you!!! Now who feels silly?"

People with Disociative Personality Disorder(s) always have one dominant personality.

God knows the true personality.
