Could be an umbilical hernia, but I would expect some sort of unhappiness from your baby. My husband had one from lifting, and had to have surgery, which is uncommon as compared to an inguinal hernia. Regardless, take baby to the doctor and get it checked out. It sounds like something a doctor should see.

Probably an umbilical hernia. My son had one when he was a couple of weeks old. Let a doctor check it. Nothing to worry about. It will return to normal eventually.
