Engine control module runs the spark plug coils and fuel injection plus it turnes on the fuel pump relay. ECM is located on the fire wall passenger side held with two 10 mm bolts black box (ECM) is inside. There was several service campaigns for that car. ECM is warrantied for 80,000 miles and if Nissan wants they can Good Will the replacement for more mileage. I have replaces lots of ECM's that year.

the ecm is the electronic control module and it if it has a resistor with corrosion on it this means it may be burned out, you,ll need to take it in for repair so they can replace the unit, they,ll use your old chip, but will replace the main unit on it,,this unit is what makes the car run and function well,,if it goes bad you,ll have all kinds of trouble from it,good luck i hope this help,s.
