I wouldn't recommend any chemical products; how would you like having chemicals rubbed around your eyes? Warm water and cotton wool is probably just as effective (and a fraction of the price!).

Try some lemon juice on a cotton ball and gently wipe downward away from the eyes. Be very careful not to get it in the eye, It will burn like crazy!! It will probably take several applications, and depending on how dark the stain, you might not be able to get it all to go away. It will definitely lighten it and make for a better appearance. The tear stains are caused by a blocked tear duct, (not dyes in the cat food) and short of surgery to correct this, removing/lightening the stain is about all you can do. Good luck!

Hi, I've got a white persian and his eyes have that red /brown stain.
i've used a product called Topline Kleenface ever since I've had him. It's definitely the best tear stain remover I've used. It doesn't smell toxic, the cat doesn't mind it, never had any type of allergic reaction and it works brilliantly. it removes the stain and and also has something else in it that keeps his fur white for a while(rather than the same area truning reddy/brown an hour later.)
It's not cheap ( about £8/200ml) but it lasts me about three-six months.
I tried 'diamond eyes' once and it smelt horrible (like a strong bleach) and my cat was pulling his head away. I wouldn't put diamond eyes away near my own eyes yet alone the cat. (Ended up throwing away the whole bottle).
I've included the people I buy it from (based in Bedforshire).

For sure DO NOT use "lemon"!
Persian cats have often eyes inflections.
I would either take her to the vet and let him cure her
or cook some strong camomille tea, dilute it with cold water, dip a cotton pad and remove the strain. it is a harmless, cheap and antiseptic solution

I find the best is warm water and a wash cloth, there are products to remove the "blood tears", ointments and drops, etc., but that can get costly after a while. I use this cheap remedy everyday after dinner for my poodle/schitzu dog, he's apricot and white.
I disagree with the lemon juice remedy.

Usually, which too long for me. I believe it depends on the guy and his face though. Certain guys can easily pull off long hair and others can't.

any of the powders are safer. And if you want to not have those in the future, get a food with low dye in it. Because that is what it comes from is the dye in the food.
