Romans 10:9 For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
1st John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.
Acts 2:38,39 Peter replied, "Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you and to your children, and even to the Gentiles --all who have been called by the Lord our God."

Acts 2:38-39 should help you understand. The four basic steps to salvation are:
1. Repentance with a GODLY sorrow, not just "with lipservice as menpleasers".
2. Water Baptism
3. Sanctification. The Scripture says "Come ye out from among the world and be a seperate people". Meaning that we were to segregate ourselves from sin by sanctifying or seperating ourselves out for God's use.
4. Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Read about the Upper Room in the NT to understand why this is necessary.

Sins are natural , sins are just situations. We have to handle them very nicely. If you have done a sin , its hard to recover.Next time don't do it. To avoid the feature sins , you must read news papers and find out how the world is moving these days. Speak to elders and read about good people . Not about the GOD's and there salesman's. The more you now the world the better yu will be for the mankind.

Being "saved" from your sins involves,IMO, that that an individual becomes aware that previous actions, attitudes, and opinions are not guided by a sense of selflessness and are usually the result of only playing to the bottom line, selfishness. Rationalizations for our actions are merely attempts to decrease the sting of personal responsibility in our actions, etc. towards others. According to Jesus, the law of God is already written on our hearts, and He summed it up, as Hillel had written years previous to the Sermon on the Mount as the Beatitudes and the Golden Rule. Jesus really didn't say anything new that had not been already stated, He just lived it. Please refer to the book "The Last Temptation of Christ" not the movie to see Jesus as a (GASP!) human who decides to do the will of God with no supernatural help. It all comes down to personal responsibility for choices and if we allow Jesus to be as human as the rest of us, then salvation from sins really rests with us; He already has shown it is possible to be free from the past and ready to live in the now.

It's not enough to 'just stop sinning'. Your past history needs to be cleared also. All you can do it to take Jesus up on his offer to cleanse you. And if He's imaginary, so is Julius Caesar and Socrates. We have more first hand documentation about Jesus than ANY other ancient figure.
Oh, and even Hindus understand that the Law of Grace is higher than the Law of Karma.

Accept responsibility for the wrongs you have done-accept that you have to experience the karmic effects of your actions on others then move on and learn from the experience. Guilt and lack of self forgiveness are the biggest sins of the lot which is why many Christians are despicable in trying to encourage feelings of guilt where none need exist.

The best straighforward answer to that is found in Romans 10:8 "...the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."
