I live in Missouri. I grew up in Texas. My family says things like "warsh" and "murika" and "injun" and "sodee pop" and "messkin"... but mu personal favorite word and phrase are "nuc-u-lar" (sounds a bit much like "tubular" to me) and "more better"...
YES, IT BUGS THE CRAP OUT OF ME!! Save me from these vocabularically challenged people! (And yes, I realize I may have made up a new word.)
The English language could be beautiful if humans didn't mangle it so. It grates on my ears.

LOL. I've heard different pronunciations all my life for the same things. Try a 'Cajun for a Daddy and Old Southern for a Mama!
We recieved good educations, and a lot of it did not come from books of grammer or English!
Live and let live! To someone, somewhere, we ALL have accents, and our pronunciation is off-key.

So I take it you too live in the joyous region of Southern America. I also hate it when my great aunt asks me to go to the store for her to buy "warshin powder" and "oleo". For the love of God, it is 2006 Auntie! But yes, when I do to Wal-Mart this afternoon I'll get you laundry detergent and margarine...sticks....the tubs would only confuse and horrify her.

I live in Central Texas.
This is the only place in America (pronounced"murika") that I know of where people don't speak with an accent.

terlet for toilet- a friend does this but she makes it sound cute.

Actually, I think they're funny and it very rarely irritates me.
gary, how are you supposed to pronounce it? It's spelled to sound like ont and not ant.
