It is because it is colder. Your body temperature drops. There is something about being cold (think about summer vs winter) that makes you more hungry.
It's not about calories burned or anything else. I don't have all the details but a fittness magazine had an article about this one month.

have you noticed how you never get hot when you've been swimming hard? but you do when you are running
swimming pools are cold they are about 30'c (mine has a big sign saying so) and in scinece we did how our bodies stay at 37'c so we have to warm them up in a swimming pool

you use a lot of energy while swimming causing you also to burn some carbs here and there your body needs food to restore that energy so that is why you are hungry
