My intention is not to offend anybody but more to learn. I've always wondered since Judaism and Islam have one book that was revealed by God and it hasnt been changed since, why does Christianity have the Old Testament and the New testament and how do you know which one has the true message of God and which one is written by man?

The Bible is one book. Why there are two parts is because one was written in Hebrew and the other Greek. You need both parts to understand the theme of the Bible. Jesus himself quoted from the Hebrew Scriptures that's why we know they are valid. The Bible was inspired by God to direct certain Bible writers to copy down what he wanted. As an example, like a secretary who writes down their boss's thoughts but the thoughts are directly from the boss. All the Bible writers never gave credit to themselves. They always acknowledged that it was God's holy spirit that directed them to write what they did. The Bible is so harmonious. There is no way these Bible writers would have known each other to convey their thoughts so accurately. Bible prophecy is the real proof that the Bible was inspired by God. The theme of the Bible is this. The time will come when the true vindication of God as the rightful ruler over mankind and this earth will take place. We are close to that time. So, keep up the good work. Read the Bible daily. Learn who God really is and his son Jesus, and how they will bring about a beautiful peaceful earth where we will live forever upon it.

Those two books make up the one Bible.

The Abrahamic traditions are that in which have an intertwining history. Christians claim their roots through Abraham, as well as Jews and Muslims. The Jewish Torah is the same as the Christian Bible's Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy (first 5 books of the BIble). The Koran was written by Mohammed, and the Bible and Torah by many.

Both the NT and OT were written down by man. However, the prophets of the OT were inspired by God, as God communicated through a prophet, and the prophet wrote down God's word. However, there are many theories as to how the NT was written. Go to the library and do some research on the "Streeter Hypothesis." and "Four-source theory" for the writing of the gospels, as well as the disputed and undisputed letters of Paul. I hope that helps!

It's a collection of 66 books. They are the inspired words of God. The old testament talked a lot about the laws and prophesied about the coming redeemer. The new testament is the end of the old law and the beginning of the new covenant. Jesus was that covenant because He fulfilled the old law, which is why some people say we don't have to live by the old testament. What they mean to say is that we don't have to follow all those laws to be saved, because justification comes by faith, Faith in Christ and what He has accomplish on the cross. Everything in the entire bible is the story of Jesus and His finished work

The Bible is infallible and is the inspired Word of God. it is divided into the Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament chronicles the nation of Israel, God's chosen people. It also contains books of Law, poetry and prophecy. The New Testament chronicles the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, and His teachings, as well as the Revelation of things to come. The Jews do not accept the New Testament and are still looking for their Messiah to come.

One is Old Testament and another is New Testament after Jesus Christ is born . Christian use the New Testament. The Old testament is just a reference about the beginning of creation

The OT and the NT make up the same book, The Holy Bible. Think of them as chapters. The first chapter, the OT, is a precursor to the birth of Jesus Christ. It tells what happened in the lives of the Israelites and their rebellion against God. The NT opens with the birth of Christ. The first four books of the NT are called the Gospel. They tell the story of the life of Christ from four different points of view. The rest of the NT is mainly the writings of Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to the surrounding Churches of that day. Basically the OT is B.C. and the NT is A.D.
Hope this helps.

New and Old Testaments are accredited to the same author (The Holy Spirit).
The Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament, and the New Testament is hidden in the Old Testament.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to you in the Old Testament.
You'll see.

Jesus said something about coming to fulfill the earlier prophets. I think that because Jesus spoke so often of them, the OT was included kind of like a reference book alongside the NT. The NT by itself probably felt insufficient to early Christians. In any case, Christianity kind of slowly evolved from a sect of Judaism to a seperate religion over the first 150 years of its history, so there was really no defining breaking point when they would have said, "Okay, we're not Jewish anymore, we don't need this book".

Having said that, it seems that most of the theological confusion within Christianity stems from applying the OT properly - there are large parts of it dismissed by most Christians as 'old law', so I really don't know why it's not pruned so to speak... when laws are rendered obsolete, aren't they normally taken off the books?

The old testament is NOT for us today we live on this side of the cross, the old WAS for the JEWS, it is NOT for the NEW TESTAMENT Christian... If you go by the old ,, you had better live by it perfectly, because you will be judged by it. It was NOT perfect at all, it was to hard. That is why Christ had to come here, die to bring in the NEW, he knew man kind could NOT stand up to the old, so he did away with it when he died on the cross, HE said it is FINISHED, and he wasn't talking about the day, he MEANT THE LAW WAS FINISHED. HE COMPLETED THE LAW WHEN HE DIED ON THAT CROSS... So you see don't fool around in the old testaments it is not for us ever since Christ died it is just history about what was coming in the future, THE NEW TESTAMENT THE PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY;;;;;;THE HOLY BIBLE;;; THE NEW TESTAMENT..no it does not teach hate, and I am glad you want to learn more about being christian, and if any one on here hurts your feelings I am sorry for their stupidity.
