We consist of our body and our spirit. The body dies, the spirit does not.

The dead are unconcious with no thoughts or feelings
ECCLESIASTES 9:5 & 10 & PSALM 146:4

The only hope for the dead is a future resurrection onto the earth
JOHN 5:28,29 & PSALM 37:29

Lazarus had been dead for parts of four days but didn't say anything about being anywhere else when Jesus raised him
JOHN chapter 11
(verse 24 shows that his sister believed in a future earthly resurrection)

To say that a person or personality survives in some way after death is an extention of the lie that Satan first told Eve
(GENESIS 3:4) He said that she wouldn't die but she did.

Beliefs should ALWAYS be backed up with Scripture

The only hope for our loved ones that have died is a resurrection in the future onto the earth.
It doesn't make sense that God would allow our dead loved ones to watch over us as we suffer trials etc without being able to do something to help us (how frustrating would that be?)

Any other good questions?

You see a blazing white light at the end of a dim, dark tunnel, and as you rise up slowly, you're painfully aware that you've watched "A Bug's Life" once too often, 'cause you can hear a little voice, squeaking "donnnnnn't go into the liiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!"

When the physical body is not longer functional, through disease, injury or illness, then it does die (death: the final cessation of vital bodily functions)

Those of us who believe we survive physical death are aware of the spirit which is part of us, this survives the process of physical death, the spirit is an energy, science dictates through the law of conservation, that energy can not be destroyed, merely changed to another form, so it is with spirit

Eccl.9:5 - "For the living are conscious that they will die,but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all."
The Bible teaches that when we die,we go back to the ground from which we came.It is likened to a deep sleep, where you are not aware of anything. You are non existent except in God's memory. And in Jehovahs due time all the dead will be resurrected.(Acts 24:15)

Where does the light go when you switch it off?

Same question - same answer - it stops, period!

Ask those who tell you that your spirit lives on how they know. The answer usually boils down to "somebody told me" or "I read it in a book". no evidenve is produced for the simple reason that there isn't any. so, prepare to meet your end. Make a will, build up your debts.

If we have made a decision to survive we will awaken on a transition world. The only difference is that we will KNOW survival.

You cease to exist, just as it was before you were born. There is no spook in the sky waiting for you with heaven and all that fairy tale stuff. You just cease to live and your body begins to decompose. Finito. Nada. The end.

I would like to think that this life is just a way station on the road to somewhere else. If this is all there is, then that would truly suck!
