Who will be the first country to use Modern Nuclear weapons and why?

The US in its latest nuclear review outlined how tactical nukes would be preemptively used in theatre warfare ... outlined who the missles are currently pointed to ... and made an official statement that in the event of an attack on the US by any weapon of mass destruction it would retaliate with nukes. Also, the overall plan for the middle east as laid out in the handbook written by the pnac "rebuilding americas defenses", points to iran as being next on the hit list ... their nuclear program will be the priority targets, and in order to prevent massive casualties by a ground assault it will be necessary to attack the underground facilities with nuclear weapons ... regular airpower would fail to take them out. I also see a possibility that the govt will stage a false flag nuclear or "dirty-bomb" attack on american soil to justify action on iran... i'm convinced that it is a foregone conclusion among the powers that be that america will control irans oil, and that the iranian regime must be in line with US policy ... so i see military action as inevitable within the next couple of years and the threat of the US govt covertly attacking its own citizens to justify this action, as a clear and present danger....

One nation has already used nuclear weapons against another - America. Only one country is likely to do so in the future - its America. No other country on the planet is so arrogant and self-assured, nor so lacking in morality. America is a bully nation, beating the small kids on the block with the biggest stick it can find. One day soon it may go too far. This is why other nations have nuclear weapons - it is fear that makes them arm themselves accordingly.

The french were the first to use modern nuclear weapons when they tested in the pacific a few years ago.

I'd imagine that most people would think that the most likely country to use nuclear weapons in anger would be America, North Korea or Iran but given what's happened recently I wouldn't be surprised if it was Israel

(I'm assuming that a terrorist 'dirty bomb' wouldn't count as a MODERN nuclear weapon)

Probably North Korea. They have the delivery system and the will. It is only as they politically out manouvered the US with regard to nuclear weapons that the US are too cowardly to stop them. The US do not want to be seen to have lost face to Korea, this is why we do not hear anything from the US about this recently. They are putting the boot into Iran about this, but Iran has had fissionable material for years and has not made a nuke yet. The US are far too chicken to stop N Korea getting nukes, they much prefer to bully Iran who have no desire to build a bomb.

The United States remains the only country in the world to have used Nuclear weapons against any other country (Japan). This brought to an end, WWII.

No one will use them, as this will cause a chain reaction with people bombing left right and centre. The first to press the button will have other allies of that country bomb them. Its good way to threatening people, but it would wipe most of the first world out. After WW2 everyone knows what could happen and will happen if a bomb is dropped. The USA don't need to nuke anyone as their army is the largest and have the biggest income, they can just take over with force. Only China have enough people to make the USA think but not enough money yet. War is a way of making money and who will make money if there is no one left to have a war with?

America has a higher standard to live up to than some of the other countries like Iran and North Korea. The only reason the bomb was ever used was to put an end to a five year old bloody war that cost over 62 million human lives. Iran wants to wipe Israel of the face of the earth and N. Korea wants to wipe everybody off the face of the earth. Either country is stupid enough to use the bomb. If either of them do, their country will cease to exist.

It could be any country - one missile wipes out Iran - end of Iranian nuclear problem - everyone in the middle east has something important to worry about - radiation.

But it will probably be a religious nut - Christian, Islamic - as long as we aren't the target - it's not worth worrying. Just keep Trident just in case!

I love that everyone thinks the USA is itching to use nukes. Nobody in the USA wants to use a nuke! Don't you think if we wanted to it would have been easy to find justification to do so before now? During Korea when our troops were inches from being pushed into the sea was probably as close as we have come but we didn't do it, why< because we are a civilized society and recognize the inherant problems with just blowing things up.

If Iran get a hold of a nuke they just might use it. But it will end badly for them if they do.
