Humans are three part beings, body soul and spirit. The Body was created from the dust of the ground, then the spirit came from the eternal breath of God, so it is eternal, and man BECAME a living soul. The soul is that part of man which comes from the touching of the body and the spirit and that gives us cognizance of our surroundings (mind, emotions and will) It is in the soul that man sins or obeys God. It is in the spirit that a man relates to God. There is no way for the soul to interact with the spirit except by faith, and there is no way for the soul to interact with God in the natural man. See 1 Corinthians 1-2. The one area of our spirit that we can sense is our conscience. At death the spirit and the body separate and our spirit goes to heaven with Christ and our body decays. The soul that sins goes to hell for eternity. Complicated?
