Really, having a strong opinion about something that you cannot change is a pretty big waste of time if you think about it. The smartest and most productive people I know are fairly apolitical. Either way you argue, the other side gets angry and hates you. I'm not saying we should sit back and let whoever's in charge do whatever they want, but spending hours talking about it is what's making it easy for other countries to be more productive than us. India and China's economies are both growing faster than ours, so maybe it's time for us to pull our heads out of our butts and actually do something useful instead of argueing. Any thoughts?

People in this country are so caught up in flag waving because of 9/11 that we lost or bearings on our path to being a beacon of democracy....much of this is a conscious doing of the current administration....when you polarize people like this administration has done you achieve what you want which is power......the only thing is that this power has been used to do is keep the super-rich....super-duper rich....Protection and security not for the American people but for the wealthy......its just under the guise of protection and security from terrorists......

So to answer your question "why do people argue about politics"
Well first understand that people are arguing b/c they have been polarized in efforts to keep this administration in power..look at last 2 elections

#1 it distracts us from the Real Reality of situations ( china and India's growing economies)
#2 Gives on a sense of righteousness which makes our ego's feel great for a short period of time.
#3 Its what this administration wants.......(what's more productive and progressive, people working separately or people working together despite our differences?)......This political spike that divides us puts Change in a holding pattern while the super-rich's bank accounts get bigger

Hang in there there just like the night...the sun eventually rises

I have strong opinions about politcs, whether I choose to air them or not, I still have them. Who cares about India and China's economies. Money isn't everything. Politics is not a problem, however, intolerance and poor government is.

good question, and you make a lot of sense. Politics define how people feel about society, and for that reason, its important to argue about it.

But its true that its useless to throw hateful statements one way or another across the political landscape.

you're right about China and India

but, people argue about it because they believe they are right and no one else can have a different opinion and be right.

btw we need a new economy system as well as a new government to fix our problems.

Because the idiots on one side hate the fools on the other. I'm an idiot (or is it a fool).
