What about what you want???? You need to sit down with her and tell her that it's YOUR life, if she wants to be a doctor then she should do it. But you need to find a career that will make you happy!

Are you bored because the studying is boring and difficult, or too easy? Is it interesting or challenging at all?

I don't know how old you are, but if you are still in high school, it is your "job" to study. If you are going to college, and you aren't working to pay for it, it is still your job, right?

The difference is, in college you can change your degree to whatever you want it to be. You can be a doctor of anything. Be thankful for the opportunity that you have, and try to find a way to balance that out with some fun.

Talk to your mom. Tell her that you need a break from studying, and let her know that you won't be spending your free time doing things that are irresponsible or reckless.

Good luck in the future, Doc!

You have a bad case of "Burn Out". No matter what career you are seeking, it takes study, study, study. But... you have to take time out now and then to "Smell The Roses". I can imagine feeling trapped. But feeling bored???? If this is the career you want for yourself, then the study should be anything but boring. It should be interesting, exciting and challenging. Maybe you should think over what it is you want for your own career. Then carry out your own decisions for your future.

My mom wanted me to go to college right after high school, I had better plans, I wanted to party and have fun, and I ended up getting married. However, I am now 27 and have been in med school for 6 months...I sometimes wish that I had went right after school and not wasted alot of years, but I also think that you have to do it on your own time, I had to "grow up" before I was mature enough to handle college. If I had went after high school I would have failed every class, because I wasnt ready. If you are ready then go for it, but do what you want to do, if you dont want to be a Dr. then dont. Good Luck!!!

Do you want to be a doctor or does your Mother want this for you?

If it's what you want then you have to study, study and study some more.

If it's not what you want to do with your life you and your Mom need to have a talk.

But really just about any career you pick for yourself is going to need to be studied.

This is YOUR own life. You should live the way YOU want and NOT what other people want you to be! Think about what do YOU really hope to do in the future. Are you interested in what your mum tells you? Maybe you should sit down and talk to your mum about why she wants you to be a doctor. If not, you can discuss with her why you want to pursue other careers if you have one in mind. Persuade her.
Be what you want to be, follow your dreams, do not live to regret. =)

The ultimate decision of what yor want to do with your life is yours. However, even though it is a lot of work, being a doctor does have its rewards.

i agree....keep at it! someday you'll have a fat paycheck!...along with no time for anything else, persistent grumpiness, inflated ego, medical lawsuits, bills... bills... and more bills(cost money to live big) and most likely a relationship built on the love for money which will ultimatley collapse.......but the money will be good so who cares?
