Jesus did not hang on a cross. It was a torture stake used by the Romans for all impalement's. Check your history books for that piece of evidence. It was an upright pole. A crossbeam as some will tell you (cross) would never have caused Jesus to die. He would have been able to hold himself up for a long time. He never had his legs broken as the other two criminals did. He suffocated before that happened. Jesus told one of the evildoers that he would be with him in Paradise. That meant he would die, go to his grave, and wait for a resurrection to life again on a paradise earth. Jesus had to go to his grave for parts of 3 days until his father, Jehovah, resurrected him. By telling the evildoer that he would be living again on a Paradise earth proves that Jesus believed in eternal life, or living forever. He knows that from the Bible account that God created the heavens and the earth and all creatures of their own kinds, that there was no way Jesus would have believed in evolution. Jesus saw how things were created because he helped in the creating of them. He enjoyed planning out how each of the creatures would look and act. He wanted to take time to design them all. Just by starting some amoeba and letting it take its course sounds foolish!
