I was not allowed to trick or treat starting at age 12. I would say 13 or 14 would be a better number. But of course it all depends on the culture in your neighborhood. Ask your kids whether their friends are going or not, and maybe check with the other parents.

My sons will only be able to trick or treat until they are 12. At 13 they should be at a Halloween Party or hanging out with friends. Trick or treating is for little kids. The older ones spoil it bag snatching and scaring little ones. They need to find something better to do. I think local churches should try Halloween parties for those 13 and over. I will be suggesting it to mine.

A child is never too old to go trick or treating.

Enjoy the day, have fun, be creative!
Always make your own costume.

I would say 13/14 years old. Harmones start kicking in and they should be supervised differently. IMHO

That is the time instead of Trick or Treating, they probably would prefer a cool party or dance.

Obviously, these other people are not the one purchasing the candy!!!!! I refuse older kids candy because I don't buy enough for the whole town.

I go trick or treating with my kids, yes I dress up...and we have fun with it. If you are asking for children to go out by themselves trick or treating...my daughter is 12 and is going this year...it's still fun for her...I think high school age is a good age to stop.

Halloween is not just for kids... And remember you are a kid at heart not at age! Im 24 and i still love the feeling of people dressing up and enjoying them selves... Last year i dressed up like sponge bob and went trick or treating with the local kids and had a blast making them laugh.

I think it depends on the kid. If they are beyond beleiving in Santa and Toothfairy, don't play with toys or watch cartoons anymore, then I say no (On that note I know allot of grown men who should still be trick r' treating then, lol). I think it also depends on siblings and where you live. My kids are 11, 3 and 8 months, my oldest still goes mostly b/c she likes to go with her sister, she likes to dress up but could careless other then that. She only keeps a handful or two of her candy and gives the rest to her sister.
