I would have layers put in, it will shape your face and give you a more defined look and would be easier to control and manage. Dont go for a perm.

If you go to a local Toni & Guy hairdressers' you can get a free consultation (like most hairdressers, but Toni & Guy seem to be the best) Then, go somewhere cheaper to get the cut down based on what you talked through with the person you had the consultation with! (That didn't come from me! lol)
Layers is a good way to keep your hair from getting too thick and heavy, and maybe get some good hair straighteners to keep your 'messy' hair in place....or just put it up!

Hiya, Why dont you get it layered to take away the thickness you know thin it down a bit, and maybe get highlights done too they look great!! I had hair the same as yours and thats exactly what i done and i was so pleased with the outcome, it makes you feel really good about yourself too, I know it worked for me!
Good luck!! :)

Depends on what your style is like, work that out and get a cut to match. If you indie=side finge and layers. Rugged=shaggy layers. Jock=short spikey. Have a flick through some celebrity mags to get inspiration and take it to a hairdresser you trust and comes reccommended.

I would suggest having layers put in your hair and have it thinned.
I normally have my hair layered because mine is very thick aswell.
My hair always sits better and is alot easier to handle!!!
If you dont want to get it cut I would suggest a french plate, it will make your hair look neat and tidy and they are also very modern to have!

layering is best as it suits all hair types.ie,thin hair makes it look thick and thick hair makes it look thinner, that is the safest option.took to your hair stylist as they will be able too give you a consultation
