hindsight...?

in retrospect, looking back...if you had known what you know now you would have done things differently....

You mean hindsight. The hind is behind you so hindsight is looking back on something that you have done or has happened and you have seen the results. Thus with 'hindsight', IE seeing it afterwards, you might have done it differently.

I think you mean hind sight... it is when you do something wrong and you look back on it and you can see what you should have done.
