If so, how far into the relationship do you meet the parents? 6 months? 1 year? Or until it's serious?

If he wondered why he hadn't met them yet, what is that supposed to mean if it's just casual?

If it's casual, I would try to avoid meeting the parents without being rude. I've been in that situation before and it's very awkward. As it gets serious, then I would say "meet the parents", but not until then.

PS. Make the first meeting a very casual one, and not at great length.

Even with casual relationships it is good to meet the parents at any stage. Ask yourself, at what stage do you bring home a new friend for your parents to meet. I don't think you set a time limit and if it is casual introduce this person as a friend. Good luck

You don't meet the parents as a casual relationship. A casual relationship is usually just about sex.

Sure. But I would do It after 6 months. This day in age, most parents understand casual relationships. Their usually just happy that their son/daughter's are happy.

I dont think "meeting the parents" has to be such a big deal. I mean if this guy is wanting to take you over to their house for dinner like, "This is my girl, VIP" then it could be a big deal. But see if you can meet them under a less stressfull setting like, "I have to go by my parents and get my bla bla bla..." Go with him for a quick introduction. So if it does turn into something more serious it wont be uncomfortable when you meet them again.

You meet the parents when the relationship becomes serious enough for marriage.

Yeah, why not. Its always cool to have your parents meet your friends. It gives them a little glimpse into your world and make them trust you more. Around 6 months is fine.

My 'casual' date met my mom at my grandma's funeral.

Yeah...I know, I thought it was weird too.
