peanuts do not get stale unless they are in the shell the word "stale" refers to a prouct either gaining moisture (like chips and crakers) or when moist food (like cake) losses moisture due to air . how ever peanuts do get rancid as do all other nuts and other products with natural oils. a good way to counter act this is to store them in the freezer if your going to keep them around for a long time, or for a shorter salution you can just keep them in an air tight container and out of light. how ever there is no way to bring back rancid nuts

i dont know if you call it stale, however when they are in the house for a long time they get rubbery (the ones in the shell) and if they are the ones in the can they can get a bit rancid tasting. But peanuts never manage to stick around long enough in my house as we all love them
