I have alot of neutral colors in my home and i would like some advice on colors for the kitchen. I have an older style kitchen and the cabinet doors have some engraved lines on the front of the door which I think would need to be a different color than the rest of the door. I was thinking about painting the doors a light wheat brown and then all the trim around the doors and the engraved parts a chestnut brown and the walls around the kitchen a creamy color. I dont know if this will look old or to dull? I need help! Ant suggestions or do you think Ive chosen the right colors? Thanks!

Those colors are fine. If the rest of the house is in neutral colors than you've picked colors that continue to tie in with the rest of the house. You can always bring another color in with thngs like the towels you use and placemats and other accent peices. Have fun with it .

Taupe is a light tan colour which can also bring out the brown flecks in the counter and tile floor. Taupe goes well with black as well, they're a rich mix of colours so the kitchen will feel warm. I'm not an expert on colour and not sure what type of colour scheme you're after, but if you stick to colours that compliment each other you shouldn't go wrong. Also if you want other ideas, look to pictures of nature and pick up on the colours that they produce which can give you ideas on a theme 'look'.

I think because the rest of your house is neutral, that you should do something bold. Like a dark Chocolate with Red accents, or Mustard yellow with barn yard red. Or royal blue and white. And Don't forget your ceiling! The kitchen is a very important room. You make your families food in there. It's the gathering place for most families. Make it stand out! :)

I just did my kitchen, I live in a older home. I went with white on the trim and wainscoting and a country blue wallpaper, the paper just has faint blue line on the blue. New floor as well. It looks beautiful!!! Good Luck :):):)

I think that your choices are good ones. We just did our kitchen in a Tirimisu colour and our place is the same tones and it looks amazing...Debbie Travis colours may be the way to go!
