The worst that can happen is she says No. Believe me, it doesn't hurt as bad as you think it's going to. She will admire you for your honesty, and either accept, or politely say No Thank You, because she is your friend.
But because you are friends, she deserves to know how you feel. If you like her alot, then you should tell her how you feel. I promise, even if she says no, that is the worst that happens. At 16 or 17 years old, you will come across a lot of girls (especially if you go to college) and if this one says no, it just means there is something better out there for you.

Since you guys have been friends for 5, 6 years, she obviously knows you very well. Which means that she probably feels the same way about you...you never know. You shouldn't wait any longer. She's probably wondering if she should ask you out, and shes probably also scared that shes going to get turned down.
If I were you, I wouldn't wait any longer then what you waited already. I would have asked her out as soon as I had strong feelings for her.

Since you have known her so long. You should know her likes and dislikes. Also how she treats you. If she is friendly towards you and seems like she might want to date you. Then go for it, and ask her out to a movie or some thing you know she would enjoy. Everyone is afraid of rejection. But you need to get over it to get what you want.

Rejection is a hard thing so try this instead. Ask her to go for a walk and just talk. Could be while you are on the walk you could suggest a restaurant near by. Ask her is she is hungry. Go get a bite to eat. Get to talking with her and be YOURSELF. While out suggest something else to do next time together..suggest a movie, skating, whatever she likes doing. Now get going and remember, Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck!

Take that chance. Show some confidence and ask her out. She will appreciate the fact you had the nerve to ask and if she rejects you then that is ok. It'll only hurt your pride a little but you will also be able to say you tried. And there are other girls out there. And you are still young so you will find them. Good luck!

Ask her out, whats the worse that can happen she says no, but she could say yes. If she says no it will hurt for a moment thats ok but you can go on with the rest of your life and know that you asked and not wonder what if. So go for it, you might be surprised and it turn out to be a wonderful date.

I would tell her how I felt in front of her. DONT DO IT BY EMAIL OR BY PHONE!!! If she says no, then move on. It's going to be hard when she puts you down but whatever, there are so many chicks out there. Set up a date or bring her over to your house to watch a movie and then tell her. Wish you the best of luck.

We are all scared of rejection, especially from the people we love and care about. Give yourself a nudge and do it. Set yourself a goal and give yourself 20 days to achieve it. You don't want to spend a lifetime wondering. Get it off your chest. As you say the worst is she can only say no.

What is worse... Asking her out and her saying no or never asking her out and regretting it for the rest of your life? Take a chance.. worst case is she says no or she just wants to be friends.. at least you know how she feels.
