Absolutely!~~ If you have dark hair get your hair highlighted first, then add the red semi-permanently or permanently from Redken or permanently from Farouk. Salons can sometimes carry both of these products if you ask, and then you can choose according to your hair type.
*tip(If you don't get the hair highlighted first, the reds won't be that noticeable.) Although Farouk's lightens and colors in one step...but it's permanent. It will eventually fade, and you could put a different color over the red after the holidays. It could be semi-permanent and they are very conditioning. Cosmetologist =o)

The semi permanent dyes are very light colored for black hair. If you want a more vibrant color highlight(that's at least noticeable) you would have to do permanent with a light bleach. Even with semi-permanent dyes you are going to a little damage. Use alot of conditioner and make sure you use the right shampoos or you could really mess up your hair. Be careful

That depends on the condition of your hair already, and if you're ready for a change that will last far beyond the holidays. Are you planning to use color, or extentions? Also, if you have a concrete idea of what you want, look for pictures of what you want and don't want, and this will give the stylist a more accurate idea of what you want. Also, do you have a stylist who specializes in color? It's good to research their expertise in that area. Some stylists may cut better than they can color, and if you don't really have the time to shop around, then go to an upscale salon and have a consultation. Your hair is definately something you want to splurge on if it's worth it. There's nothing worse than a terrible cut or color.

Sure. Personally, I think that black hair with red highlights look fantastic. Maybe go to the store during late halloween time and get some red hair spray, then put it on on christmas day. Or, you could get some fake red hair streaks. It's your call!

I have black hair, and I decided that Auburn highlights would be nice for my hair. I went to the salon, had it done and loved it... for about 2 days. After my first wash it totally faded and looked orange. Check with a pro... my hair stylist told me it might look orange because I have black hair and I guess I didn't believe her.
