I already have my oppinion on this one, but I would like to keep an open mind as to what others think of it. Being 15 and in highschool, I see a lot of failed relationship. Most of which, fail due to stupidity. However, this question has been bugging me for a while. I wanna hear what others think of it.

Yes they should. A best friend is someone you can tell anything to and they will not judge you, so if you can not tell your boyfriend or girlfriend everything you should not be together.

is having a boyfriend at 15 really a boy friend if you to are the same age? are you not just a freshman?
But a having guy that is you best friend as your boy friend could be a good thing or not... if the relationship fails, then you have lost your best friend, if it surveys, then, well, happily ever after...i guess

I really don't want to offend you sweety, but at 15 it's hard to know much of anything about love and relationships! You may get mad at me now, but in ten years my words will echo in your mind. I believe most lasting relationships begin as friends, so it only makes sense that your spouse or bf/gf WOULD be your best friend! This will be the person to whom you can say anything, and they will still love you. They can know all of your faults and it's okay! You seem to be fairly mature for 15, since you are even asking this question, so don't expect to much from people in high school. It is not likely that you will even have the same group of friends in ten years, that you have now. We all are supposed to learn from our mistakes and not repeat them, so just take it all in as a learning experience, and don't concern yourself with adult matters! There will be plenty of time for that later, trust me!

Davy, In my opinion, yes, that would be the best situation. To be in love with your best friend....That way when the kids are grown and gone, you still have your best friend there to keep you company...I think allot of failed relationships are due to NOT being friends with the one they are in a relationship with...that and selfishness. If both people are always looking out for and caring for the other...trying to out-love the other...I think that would be beautiful! Just my ideal....I don't have that relationship yet! :) Best wishes hon!

They can be your best friend but in a male/female aspect. Keep in mind that you should have other friends and it is always helpful to have a best friend of the same sex because they will be there for you probably a lot longer (especially at your age) and they will be there for the support you need in everything you do including your relationship.

My husband has been my best friend for over 22 years. I think having your boy friend / girl friend be your best friend makes a much stronger relationship because you aren't competing with your other friends in what you tell each other. But in high school - that leads to competition between your friends. I really think it's more important to be best friends with your life partner than it does when you are just "dating".

Here's what I think.....A relationship is two people who laugh with each other, can talk to each other about anything, are honest and trustworthy, etc. (It goes on for a long time, things that are hard to describe on paper) ....I believe I just described a friend. Someone that likes you for who you are and will always. So, yeah, your boyfriend/girlfriend should be a good friend.

my boyfriend is definately my best friend. he's the only person I can tell anything to and know that he'll still love me and won't judge me. Don't get me wrong I have my really close female friends aswell, but I spend most of my time with my boyfriend (we live together) so he hears about al my problems.

One of them, yes.

If you are in an intimate relationship with someone, you need to be able to open up to them.

However, I feel that you also need time apart from each other sometimes.
